Mark spent his younger years here, in Nova Scotia, Canada. As a young person he was captivated by sports such as golf, curling and ice hockey. It was not until age 23 when a trip to Australia changed his sporting focus. After purchasing an old surfboard from a local surfshop, his life experienced a drastic paradigm shift into kitesurfing and surfing. Now years later, he has visited 43 countries in the pursuit of wind and waves. Mark does have a university education with a few degrees, but he prefers the nomadic ocean-faring life.

As Nova Scotia’s first professional kitesurfer, Mark competed on the Kite Surf Pro (KSP) World Tour for two seasons. He has also appeared in every major kitesurfing magazine in the world on numerous occasions now totaling over 25. Mark has been a certified kitesurfing / kiteboarding instructor with the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) for many years. He has completed over 3500 hours of kitesurfing instruction in many different countries around the world. This abundance of experience ranks him as one of the leading kite instructors in the world.
